8sx10 Overview
We have 8, never before performed, 10-minute scripts that were written by people like you and me. This year we have a theme of holidays! We have 8 directors who each need a cast! It's a gem of an experience perfect for new actors and experienced actors alike. If you have questions, scroll down and ask your question in the audition question form. Auditions
We will have you read a short, generic scene with other auditioners to get a sense of who everyone is on stage. If needed, we will then give you some direction to modify that scene and do it again. Casting Because these are new scripts that you don't know, you can't audition for a specific role. We have a fancy sorting hat that will put you into your script house. Not really but you'd be amazed at how efficiently we cast 8 scripts with 8 directors. |
Time Commitment
This is one of the BEST parts of being in the 8x10 Play Festival; the time commitment is small. We will have 8 different casts; one for each play. There will be 3-5 rehearsals for each play over 3 weeks. Week 4, we will have 2 nights of tech at the theater and then the 3 performances. 4 weeks. That's it! You get to do your thing and meet awesome people without your friends/family getting mad at you. Rehearsal weeks (1 night per week): Mondays or Wednesdays Performances: Friday, Oct 21 and Saturday Oct. 22 (required) Friday at 7 and Saturday at 2:30 and 7. Performances are at the Mario Parente Theater in Oakbrook Terrace. It is not handicapped accessible. Your rehearsal schedule will be determined by cast conflicts and your director. NOTE - Your director may ask to add additional rehearsals. It won't be over the top. Some scripts are just more demanding. Most scripts won't need additional rehearsals. Audition! You won't be sorry. Fun times ahead! |
