8, 10-minute Scripts focused on holidays - Scripts are in, casts are set

The rules of submission. No longer accepting scripts but just so you know. We're in the process of figuring out our theme for 2022.
​Script Requirements - No cost to submit
  • Ten Minutes - This is about 8 pages of dialogue in 12 pt font. While we will read all scripts, if they are much over 8 pages they will not be considered for production. 
  • Subject Matter - Be creative! Our theme is the 1980s which provides a lot of inspiration: Music, Block-buster Movies, Big Hair, Cold War, Yuppies, Computers, Mainstream Video Games, Valley Girls...you get the idea.​
  • Cast Size - Write your best story regardless of amount of actors. ​
  • Playwright Location - Previously we asked that people lived in Chicagoland. We have decided to open it to all entries regardless of location.
  • Format - PDF or Word. On the title page include your Name, location and email address. Do not include your name on the script pages.
  • Never Performed Material - We want scripts that have never been performed with set, cast and all the drama. If it went through a stage reading or two, okey doke.
  • Set - We will use minimal set and props. Please keep this in mind.

Scripts remain your property. If selected, we will produce them, perform them, take production pictures, and record them in production. The pictures will be shared and the recordings will live on our YouTube page. Beyond that, they are yours.

Script Submission

  • Format: Word or PDF with your name, email, and location on the title page but no identifiers on the script pages
  • Submissions: Email your script to producer@westchesterplays.com. We will respond that we received the script. All communications will be via email​

Production Phases
Phase 1, Submissions: Completed Script submission. producer@westchesterplays.com

​Phase 2, Reading: after deadline. Done
Our core team will read all submissions and select a subset to submit to our 8 directors.

Phase 3, Directors Reading: Done.
Our 8 directors will read the subset and select the script(s) they would like to direct. Through some fancy negotiation, this will lead us to our final 8.

Phase 4 Auditions: Done
Let the fun begin! We will cast 8 plays with 8 directors. It's much more civilized than you would think. We've got this process down!
